"August 2013 - Wasco, IL.
Carol's Solo Show "
Sept. 4, 3013
Carol Zack has been invited to exhibit her pastel paintings at the Wasco Nursery and Garden Center. Seven new paintings have been created for this special exhibit of nature and all are on display including many more on and are for sale. This is a great time to own a Carol L. Zack painting to enhance your art collection and home.
Sharon Schmidt of "Cultural Connections" was responsible for organizing the event to showcase Carol's artwork of florals and landscapes that seem to fit right into the beautiful natural vegetation the Wasco Nursery and Garden Center is so well known for. A perfect pairing for this exhibit that is called "A Gallery of Nature".

I am proud to announce that 7 of my pastel students entered this year's Fine Line Student Show, called "This is What We Do". From top left to right, Suzanne Lattanzio Judy Niemet, Michael Lejcar, Ruphali Kumbhani, Edward D. Zack, Lillian Pagni and Rogene Windlehorn (not pictured) exhibited one or two of their most recent oil pastel paintings.
May, 2013 Lillian Pagni, oil pastel artist, collegue and ocassional student was awarded this honor. They look for a community woman who is not a member of Altrusa, but who exemplifies the Altrusa Keys of Amity, Loyalty, Talent, Reciprocity, Unity Servie and Achievement.
In her volunteer service and artistic gifts shared with Provena St. Joseph Hospital and our community, Lillian has truly exemplified the Altrusa Keys.
It is an honor to know Lillian and I have enjoyed assisting her in a consulting way to build and maintain "The Lovely Healing Gallery" as well as coach her about her oil pastel paintings.

"March - Oil Pastel Workshop" For Art Teachers
March 2013 Fine Line Creative Arts Center
"Teacher Institute Day"
This is the second year The Fine Line has invited local art teachers to attend a full day of art enrichment on their scheduled teacher institute day. They get to take some time for some introspection about teaching art.
I was honored to be asked to provide a mini workshop about oil pastel, and give each participant time to explore a better grade of oil pastel, create something that students of almost any age would be able to complete and then enhance the experience by discussing presentation techniques that gave them a finished oil pastel painting that was matted and framed to take home!
"Mini Oil Pastel Workshop"
for Fine Line Members
Fine Line Exploration Day
2013 kicked off with a Saturday workshop at the Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, IL. Several instructors provided mini workshops representative of the classes that are offered at the center. Participants liesurely went from class room to class room and tried some of the many art materials used in the art classes. My husband Ed assisted in a 2- - 30 mnute oil pastel exercise designed to provide exposure to the medium and to also learn how to apply light and dark color values across the surface. When the participants completed the exercise, they were each given a small hinged mat designed to fit into an 8x10 frame. Oil Pastels never dry, so they were encouraged to frame them in the very near future. Provided are some examples of the good work created by the participants.
